How does Yihong chose competitive flap disc for client?

There are mainly five different materials for flap disc. Aluminum oxide, zirconia alumina, Ceramic, silicon carbide, calcined Alumina. They can be used to polish different workpieces, like wood, metal, stainless steel, stone, glass, etc. Their polishing performance and service life also differ.

When we check on google, we can find many famous brands of flap disc, like 3M, Saint-Gobain, Norton, Weiler, CGW etc. Of course, these qualities are very good. But how to chose suitable product according to client's market situation? Let's see what we do.

Normally we will ask client to send flap disc samples to us for quality checking. After receiving it, we will do the following test.

First step: checking the specification, like flap size and quantity, grit number, Type as following photo.

Second step: checking the backing material. Normally it has three types, fiberglass backing plate, plastic backing pad and metal cap. Like fiberglass backing plate, we need analyse the composite and layers of the fiberglass cloth by heating in the muffle furnace.

Third step: checking and burst speed

One important quality criterion for flap disc is burst speed, which is very important for the operator's safety. We shall check if it can meet ANSI or EN13743 standard. Once the flap flies out, it will hurt human beings.

Abrasive cloth has direct relationship with the polishing performance and service life of flap disc. How to judge it? We will do grinding test.Fourth step: cloth checking and grinding test.
