Wear amount, wear rate, wear resistance
There is currently no uniform standard for the assessment of wear and tear. Commonly used evaluation methods are: wear amount, wear rate and wear resistance. The erosion wear rate is generally used to measure wear in erosion wear.
1) Wear amount
The three basic wear amounts for evaluating the wear of the material are the length wear amount W1, the volume wear amount Wv, and the weight wear amount Ww. Length wear refers to the amount of change in the surface dimensions of the part during wear, which is often used in wear monitoring of actual things. Volume wear and weight wear refers to the amount of change in the volume or weight of a part or sample during wear. In laboratory tests, it is often the first measure of the weight wear of the sample, and then converted into volume wear; or by measuring the width of the wear scar, etc., and then calculate the wear volume. For materials with different densities, it is more reasonable to use the amount of volume wear to assess the degree of wear than the amount of weight wear.
2) Wear rate
In all cases, wear is a function of time. Therefore, the wear rate is sometimes used to show the characteristics of wear, such as the amount of wear per unit time and the amount of wear per unit friction distance.
3) wear resistance
The wear resistance of a material refers to the wear resistance of the material under certain working conditions. The wear resistance of the material is divided into relative wear resistance and absolute wear resistance.
